Official Cook County Routing

For jail custody, roster, bond, or booking questions, start with the Cook County Sheriff's Office and Cook County Jail at the Law Enforcement Center.

The sheriff records page says records requests may be made in person, by phone, mail, or email, and the county also provides an online Public Data Request Form. Reports tied to pending charges may need to be requested through the prosecuting attorney, and juvenile information is restricted.

For criminal case filings, hearings, court dates, and public access terminals, use Cook County District Court.

Use the list below to choose the right record path before calling or submitting a request.

• For a person currently held on the Cook County roster, use jail inmate records and confirm directly with the Sheriff/Jail at 218-387-3030.
• For booking photos shown or requested from arrest data, start with jail roster mugshots and the Cook County public data request process.
• For charges, hearings, and filed criminal cases after arrest, use court records after a jail arrest, MCRO, or Court Administration.
• For a specific facility, check the facility pages in the footer, especially if the Cook roster shows Carlton County Jail or Lake County Jail as the current housing agency.
• For a person sentenced to state prison or still under Minnesota DOC jurisdiction, use the Minnesota DOC Locator rather than the Cook County roster.
• For federal prison or immigration custody, use the BOP Inmate Locator or ICE Online Detainee Locator System because those records are outside Cook County control.
