Cook County Jail Mugshots
Cook County's public jail roster PDF includes a "Front Mugshot" column. That is the county-specific source for current Cook County jail mugshots. The official sources reviewed did not show a separate recent-bookings gallery, public mugshot search tool, or historical booking-photo archive. The roster should be treated as a current custody and hold document, not as a permanent photo index.
The roster's photo field appears with other custody fields, including name, age, arresting agency, arrest date and time, hold reason or charges, bail, and current housing. That last field matters in Cook County. A person connected to Cook County custody may be housed in Carlton County or tied to a Lake County hold, so an outside-county roster may be the better place to confirm a current photo or custody status.
The research found no official Cook County MN Sheriff app for booking photos, jail roster access, warrants, or inmate lookup. Do not use Cook County, Illinois app or roster results for this Minnesota county.
Find Cook County Booking Photos
The first route is the official Cook County Jail Roster page. Open the current roster PDF and look for the Front Mugshot column. Because the roster is a PDF, not a database, the page's file search does not search the person's name inside the roster. Read the PDF itself.

- Check the Front Mugshot column and compare it with the name, age, arresting agency, and housing fields.
- If the "Currently Housed at" field lists Carlton County or Lake County, check that official facility source too.

Cook County Mugshot Record Fields
A Cook County booking photo appears with a short custody record. The roster does not publish a full person profile or a long history of past bookings. It also does not prove guilt. It shows that the person was listed in a custody or hold record at the time the PDF was printed.

Cook County Mugshot Law
Minnesota law treats adult booking photos as public data in many cases, but not without limits. Minn. Stat. section 13.82, subdivision 26 defines a booking photograph as a photo or electronic image taken by law enforcement for identification in connection with an arrest. Except as otherwise provided, it is public data. The same law allows temporary withholding when access would adversely affect an active investigation.

Cook County Sheriff's Records also has release limits. Reports with pending charges must be obtained through the prosecuting attorney. Ongoing investigations are not released without prior investigator and administration approval. Juvenile information is restricted and released only to a parent or guardian. Those rules can affect a booking-photo request even when the general state rule treats adult booking photos as public.
Public and Withheld Mugshots
The public can see a current roster photo when Cook County posts it in the Front Mugshot column. The public does not get every photo in every circumstance. Active investigative data, protected identities, juvenile records, some victim and witness information, and case-specific court restrictions may block or delay release.
What is and isn't public: Current adult booking photos can be public under Minnesota law, but Cook County may withhold or route records when an investigation, pending prosecution, juvenile restriction, or protected-data rule applies.
There was no Cook County policy in the research stating how long a mugshot remains visible on the roster after release. Because the roster is a current PDF rather than an archive, a photo may stop appearing when the current roster changes. Use a public data request for a past booking photo instead of assuming the online roster keeps historical images.
Request Cook County Booking Photos
When a Cook County booking photo is not online, describe the record being requested as clearly as possible. Include the person's name, approximate arrest date, arresting agency if known, and the type of data wanted. The Public Data Request Form allows inspection, copies, or both. Inspection of public data is free, and copy charges apply when the request creates copy costs under the county fee rules.

Mugshots in Other Facilities
Cook County's custody map is broader than its local jail. The June 9, 2026 roster showed one person as a boarder for Cook housed at Carlton County Sheriff's Office and another as a hold for Lake County Sheriff's Office. If the "Currently Housed at" field points outside Cook County, use that facility's official roster or records process. Carlton County has an official jail roster page. Lake County has a jail page and incarcerated-people portal with its own public-data disclaimer.
This is not a reason to use commercial mugshot sites. The supported route is still official: Cook County roster, Cook County Sheriff's Records, the actual holding jail, MCRO for court records, and VINE for custody notification.
Remove Cook County Mugshots
No Cook County mugshot-removal policy was located in the official sources reviewed. A removal or withholding request should go to the agency that holds or publishes the record and should cite the reason, such as an expungement order, dismissal, juvenile classification, protected identity, or active-investigation classification. Minnesota expungement under Minn. Stat. chapter 609A seals qualifying records from public access; it does not erase the arrest from history.
Questions about whether a case can be sealed belong with court records, not the roster alone. Court status and sealing issues should be checked through Cook County court records after a jail arrest and Cook County Court Administration. A roster photo may also disappear naturally when the current custody document changes, but that is not the same as expungement.
State and Federal Mugshots
Cook County jail mugshots are local booking-photo records. They are different from state prison and federal custody lookup tools. The Minnesota DOC Locator covers adults committed to MNDOC and still under jurisdiction. It can include DOC identity and custody fields, but it is not the Cook County jail roster.
